Gas Training News - Proud to support our ex-forces into gas training

Proud of our wall!

Over the years we started receiving the plaques of the regiments that our learners had served in, and we are proud to display them in our office. The plaques are special reminders of those that have trained with us, but serve to also remind us of our military lads and lasses that serve to keep the UK safe every day.

We have plaques from the Special Boat Service, Royal Fusiliers, Royal Marines Reserves, Military Provost Staff and a cap from the Royal Regiment of Scotland!

Kier were one of the first companies to be recognised for its work supporting the Armed Forces with a Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold award.

The award, which encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same, was awarded to Kier for ‘proactively advocating and supporting the defence community’.

One of the first companies to sign the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in 2013, Kier recognises the importance the construction industry plays in supporting the nation’s defence and security. We collaborate closely with the Armed Forces Career Transition Partnership to offer a recognised, accelerated route into the industry for service leavers, offering apprenticeship and graduate schemes and gas safety courses.

Our City & Guilds L3 Diploma in Gas is a firm favourite of the ex-forces and we are proud of that we have trained over 100 services leavers. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of service leavers through our doors, please ring if you need any information on 0191 643 2233.
